What we think, we become: Meditation and Hot Yoga

Meditation and Hot Yoga are two new things to me.  Well Yoga is not, HOT Yoga is! However, I am absolutely in love with it! I've been practicing Hot Yoga for about 8 months now. What a peacefulness it brings to me. The heat (which is around 102 degrees) makes you more flexible and rinses out the impurities that I put in my body.  I'm working on that part.  It is such a rejuvenating experience that opens the mind, body and soul to see and appreciate the little things in life and the people around us!  I know my husband appreciates ME for just going!  :)  It helps to have an absolutely AMAZING instructor.  She helps to inspire me and reminds me of the small things in life.
Today I woke up and practiced meditation.  Now I know what you all think (if you've never practiced it before) because I thought the same thing.  Remember I'm new at this too so bear with me!  It's not (at least the one I'm currently practicing) where you sit and chant a bunch of Ohm's or mantras.  I am using Rod Stryker's "Meditation for Life" CD.  He guides you through an incredible 20 minutes of silence.  You sit and pay attention to your breath, blocking out your outside thoughts.  Good thing he says it's ok to let your mind wander (because mine has a tendency...very often) but ALWAYS bring it back to your breath.  I'm told you get better at staying focused the whole time. At the end, he has you make an intention for the day. Whether it be confidence, patience, understanding, or whatever you would like to live with for the day.  Today mine was confidence.  I need the confidence to get out there and believe in myself that I am a good teacher and any principal would be great to have me on their team!  We are ALL shining stars!!

So...as I begin this blog I challenge you (I'm challenging myself as well!) to offer a compliment to someone  each day! See what a difference it makes not only in yourself but in others!

Peace, Love, and Happiness
